The Senate of the Federal University Gashua has approved that all eligible candidates who applied to the
University for admission in the 2016/2017 academic session through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination (UTME) should be screened.

FUGASHUA Registration Procedure for Undergraduates – 2015/2016

This is to inform all the fresh and stale students of the Federal University Gashua, Yobe State being that the management of the institution has released the registration procedure for the 2015/2016 academic session.

1. Steps for Screening

Data Capture

On Arrival, the admitted candidate will proceed to www.fugashua.edu.ng, select Prospective Student, and click on UTME Online Registrationlink for UTME candidates, while DE(Direct Entry Candidates) will select Direct Entry Online Registration link. At this point you will be required to verify your Admission using your Jamb/DE Number and filling the necessary details as may be required and click on My Application to download your Application Summary.

At the point of submission, you will have re-login to accept admission.

Note: Returning candidate should login through this link: http://fugashua.edu.ng/returning-applicant-login/ by selecting Undergraduate.

2. Paying of School Fees

Under, Prospective Student tab, click on New Student Pay Fees, select New Undergraduate Student. Wait for the page to load. Enter your Candidate/Applicant ID (This is generated for you during Data Capture), and click on Get Fee Details. The fees due for your Student category will be displayed. Download and Print a copy of the Payment Invoice and proceed to First Bank for payment of school fees.

Upon successful payment at the bank, you will be given a payment slip which contains a Payee ID/Invoice ID/confirmation number. Return to the portal with this and follow the procedure above. Select the e-tranzact Pin Vending option and click on pay fees. This will take you to a page, enter your invoice no/payeeID and click on verify. After your payment has been verified, you will be required to print your school fees receipt and also a PIN will be automatically generated for you with which you will be required to register your courses.

3. Profile Update and Course Form Registration

Still on www.fugashua.edu.ng, select Portal Login under Current Students use the combination of your Number and the PIN obtained after your payment has been successfully verified and school fees receipt printed. Login and update your profile, also register all your required courses as the case may be.

Note: Please, make sure you keep your PIN as it will be required for your session long access to the Portal.

Please note that the Portal will be closed by mid night _______________ 2016 and students will only be able to check registered courses. Any add and drop of courses must be done within this registration period. Failure to register within this registration period will amount to forfeiting the Academic Session.

Haruna Assumes Duty as FUGASHUA Vice Chancellor

Federal University, Gashua, FUGASHUA newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrew Haruna, has officially assumed office as the 2^nd Vice Chancellor of the University. Haruna, is a recipient of many awards of excellence both within and outside the country and also a member of professional associations. You can read more about him below.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, Professor Andrew Haruna, has officially assumed office as the 2^nd Vice Chancellor of the University after his recent appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, with a call on staff of the institution to join hands together and move the University forward.

A statement by the University’s head of Information and Protocol Adamu Saleh, said the Vice Chancellor made the call during a Special Senate meeting held recently to officially welcome him. He said the task of building a strong institution is a collective responsibility that should be taken by all.

”University is a Universal institution that is why it is called University. My prayer is that, we should not make this University to become a glorify secondary school and I cannot do this alone without the cooperation of the entire staff, which means for us to know we are a Universal institution we have to diversify,” he said.

Professor Haruna, who commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor profesoor Shehu Abdul Rahman, for laying a solid foundation, promised to build on the legacies left behind by his predecessor.

Professor Andrew Haruna, was born on 4^thApril, 1957 in Gar Alkaleri local government Area of Bauchi state. He had his primary and secondary schools at Bauchi and Borno states, respectively. After which he proceeded to University of Maiduguri for his degree where he graduated with B.A. (Honours), Linguistic in 1981.

He started his academic career as Graduate Assistant at the University of Maiduguri in 1982 and rose to the rank of Assistant Lecturer between 1984 -1986, Lecturer II, 1990 -1994 Lecturer I and became a senior lecturer in 1994. He became an associate professor in 1998.

He obtained his MA and Ph.D degrees in 1985 and 1990 respectively from the University of London. He rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages on 1^st October 2006.

From University of Maiduguri he moved to University of Jos in 2013, where he worked and served as the Head of Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages Before he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor Federal University, Gashua in 2016.

Professor Andrew Haruna, is a recipient of many awards of excellence both within and outside the country and also a member of professional associations such as, West African Linguistics Society, Linguistics Association of Nigeria and General Secretary, Linguistics Association of Nigeria.

He has both Administrative and Academic experience in running tertiary institutions as he has worked in almost every area of the University system both within and outside the country.
