Microsoft Partners with IAUE

Global technology giant Microsoft has indicated interest to partner with IAUE to improve and strengthen the educational programmes of the university.

Microsoft Consumer Channels Group Director Mr. Mark Ihimoyan gave this indication when he paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Professor Joseph Kinanee at his office on Wednesday 23rd March 2016.
Mr Ihimoyan who pointed out that Microsoft has moved from archaic technology to cutting edge system through its incessant innovations remarked that the 21st century modern day students needs to be creative and relevant as a professional. The educational and learning experiences he continued would be transformed with innovations and made interesting to help empower, develop skills and create a sustained economic opportunities for the students.
The Microsoft Director who noted that IAUE was blessed to have a visionary leader like Professor Joseph Kinanee, stressed that they were ready to start the IT Academy programme with Microsoft certification and make IAUE a bench mark for a global standard that can be referenced.
Responding the Vice-Chancellor Professor Joseph Kinanee noted that the university had gotten computers and software from Microsoft before now. He emphasized that the dream of State Government was to ensure that IAUE trained students in B.Sc. Ed and B. Sc Computer Science.
The Vice-Chancellor hinted that although the university was one of education it would diversify and welcomed the proposal for Microsoft personnel to train IAUE Staff in modern technology. He also said that IAUE would gladly partner with Microsoft in its effort to support the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as well as maintain it adding that maintenance culture was key if much was to be achieved.
Professor Kinanee informed the Director that IAUE was preparing for accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and needed e-library in each department. He solicited for support to ensure that the programmes of the university attained full accreditation.
Also speaking the university librarian Dr. Boma Obi observed that the university e-library was functional and not a check list. She called for effective training at the barest minimum cost as staff would be interested in their training which she noted must not necessarily be self based. Dr. Obi opined that some staff were immigrants to the ICT world and needed personal training.
Microsoft is the world’s leading producer of computer software and one of the most formidable and influential providers of information technology.
It was founded April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquergue New Mexico. Some of its best selling products include the Microsoft windows operating system, Microsoft office suite of productivity software and many other software services, devices and solutions.
